Cardamom

Low histamine

Cardamom is low in histamine and not associated with histamine release at normal culinary amounts.

Cardamom is an aromatic spice used in small amounts, and it doesn't meaningfully contribute to histamine load.

  • Spiced drinks — cardamom is common in chai and coffee drinks; in those contexts, the caffeine in the drink is a bigger histamine consideration than the cardamom itself

  • Ground vs pods — both forms are low histamine; grinding fresh pods tends to give better flavor, but there's no meaningful difference for histamine purposes

Generally a safe and flavorful choice for both sweet and savory cooking.
