Veal (breaded)

Moderate histamine

Breaded veal adds a gluten-containing coating to already-moderate veal, layering two potential concerns.

Plain veal is relatively low in histamine when fresh, but the breading adds another variable for sensitive individuals.

  • The gluten factor — many people with histamine intolerance also report difficulty with gluten-containing foods, and the breadcrumb coating means breaded veal introduces that variable alongside the meat itself

  • Freshness still applies — the veal itself matters too; freshly prepared breaded cutlets will typically be lower in histamine than pre-made, refrigerated versions that have been sitting

Freshly breaded and cooked veal at home gives you the most control over both the meat and coating quality.
