Peppermint tea

Low histamine

Peppermint tea is a simple herbal infusion with no fermentation and is generally considered low-histamine and easy to tolerate.

Peppermint tea is made by steeping dried or fresh peppermint leaves — no processing that would introduce histamine.

  • Herbal, not true tea — because it doesn't come from the Camellia sinensis plant, it avoids the concerns some people associate with black or green tea

  • Peppermint specifically — there's some discussion in histamine communities about whether peppermint might be a mild histamine liberator for a small number of very sensitive people, but it's generally well-tolerated and considered low-risk

For most people, peppermint tea is a straightforward, calm choice among hot drinks.
