Cherry

Low histamine

Fresh cherries are low in histamine and generally well tolerated, unlike many other brightly colored fruits.

Cherries tend to be a friendly fruit choice for people keeping an eye on histamine.

  • Low histamine, not a known liberator — fresh cherries don't contain meaningful histamine and aren't well-established as foods that trigger the body to release its own stored histamine

  • Fresh over processed — maraschino cherries and cherry-flavored products often contain additives, colorings, or preservatives that many people with histamine intolerance also react to, so the fresh fruit is the better pick

Fresh or plain frozen cherries are generally the most straightforward option.
