Taco shells

Low histamine

Plain corn taco shells are typically low in histamine, but seasoned or flavored varieties may include additives worth checking.

Traditional hard taco shells are made from masa (corn flour) and oil, baked or fried without fermentation.

  • Plain corn base is fine — the corn flour itself doesn't carry histamine concerns, and the basic production process doesn't introduce them

  • Seasonings and additives vary — some commercially made shells include flavor enhancers, citric acid, or spice blends that may be worth checking if you're particularly sensitive

Looking for shells with a short ingredient list — corn, oil, salt — tends to be the most straightforward option.
