Powdered sugar
Powdered sugar is finely milled white sugar — no histamine content or known histamine-related activity.
Powdered sugar is just white sugar ground into a fine powder, sometimes with a small amount of cornstarch added to prevent clumping.
-
Why it's low risk — plain sugar doesn't contain histamine or trigger its release, and the trace cornstarch is also histamine-neutral
-
Check for additives — some specialty powdered sugars include anti-caking agents; these are generally well tolerated, but ingredients vary by brand
For most people with histamine sensitivity, powdered sugar is a non-issue.
