Okra

Low histamine

Okra is a fresh, unfermented vegetable with no known histamine-raising properties.

Okra doesn't contain significant histamine and isn't known to trigger histamine release or block breakdown.

  • Fresh and unprocessed — like most plain vegetables, okra hasn't gone through the fermentation or aging that causes histamine to build up

  • Preparation matters — okra is typically well-tolerated on its own, but sauces or seasonings added during cooking may be the more relevant factor

Fresh, simply prepared okra is generally one of the easier vegetables to work with.
