Kohlrabi

Low histamine

A mild brassica vegetable that's low in histamine and generally well-tolerated, whether eaten raw or cooked.

Kohlrabi belongs to the same family as cabbage and broccoli, and like its relatives, it doesn't contain significant histamine or known histamine-triggering compounds.

  • Raw or cooked — both preparations keep kohlrabi in the low-histamine category, giving you flexibility in how you use it

  • Freshness still helps — as with most fresh vegetables, using it while it's still firm and fresh is the best approach

It can be a good crunchy alternative to higher-risk vegetables in salads or slaws.
